So, there are 2 ways to determine which iDrive system you have:

Of course, this doesn’t guarantee that you will be able to determine your iDrive version with 100% accuracy, because in some countries the production month can be different. But at least you’ll have some understanding which head unit can be in your BMW.

2. By the interface The majority of iDrive systems have specific interfaces, so it’s also worth checking out the look of the menu in comparison with other head units to identify the iDrive version.

BMW 3 series F30 only came with NBT 6 pin even if the menu is of CIC. There is no CIC in BMW F30.

After 2016 F30 has NBT EVO.

All F30 has 6 pin 

5 series F10/F11 only 13-14 models need to check connector type.
